OOH SOUNDS INTERESTING! WHERE & WHEN?
The workshop will be held in Manchester city centre on Sunday 21st October 2012. The actual workshop will run from 9.30am to 5pm (including breaks and lunch) during which time we’ll pass on as much advice and tips as we can to make your wedding photography business a success. As well as the workshop, Neil and I will then be going for a drink afterwards and everybody who comes on the workshop is welcome to join us! This will give you chance to ask us any questions you like whilst also getting to know other like-minded photographers, which as we will explain on the day, is so important.
WHAT ARE YOUR BACKGROUNDS?
I have shot over 300 weddings over the last 9 years and have won numerous awards in this time, including the MPA Overall North West Wedding Photographer of the Year Award, MPA NW Creative Wedding Photographer of the Year, MPA NW Reportage Photographer of the Year, the North West Mario Acerboni Wedding Photographer of the Year and was a finalist in the TWIA 2012 North West Best Wedding Photographer. I am also qualified with the BIPP and the MPA.
Neil has been a wedding photographer for over 7 years now, during which time he has shot over 150 weddings and has won the BIPP Overall North West Wedding Photographer of the Year, North West Creative Wedding Photographer of the Year and North West Reportage Wedding Photographer of the Year awards. He is also a winner of the SWPP Member’s Choice Wedding Photographer of the Year and was a speaker at the SWPP Convention in London earlier this year. He is also a fully qualified member of the BIPP.
WHAT WILL YOU COVER IN THE WORKSHOP?
We will explain how and why we each set up our businesses and what were the key factors in making our businesses successful. Rather than spending any time shooting on the day, we will be cramming in as much practical business advice as we can in the time we have to ensure that you leave inspired and full of ideas to take your business forward. We will be covering marketing, equipment, social networking, building a referral network, meeting clients, how we approach the wedding day itself, post wedding workflow and much more …basically everything we have learnt! As you can see there will be lots to cover so please get plenty of sleep the night beforeand make sure you bring a pen and paper to make lots of notes!
WHY ARE YOU HOSTING THE WORKSHOP TOGETHER, SHOULDN’T YOU BE RIVALS?
Neil and I are great friends and we thought that rather than host our own individual wedding photography workshops it would be far better for you and us if we were to host it together. This way you will be getting two perspectives on everything we talk about and it will prove that there is always more than one way to do things. Neil and I are very similar in many of the things we do but there are also areas where we are different (not just in our football!) so this way you will hear both angles. We are also both strongly believe that wedding photographers should be friends not competitors, so it just makes sense for us to do it together.
